Brewers fan called 911 over free burger for team’s win streak
Call the cops, send in the SWAT team and get the national guard on standby for this national emergency: one Brewers fan did not get his promised free hamburger.
One Milwaukee supporter called 911 over the matter on Wednesday since a restaurant running a free hamburger promotion tied to the Brewers’ 12-game win streak allegedly would not give him said gratis food.

The Brewers secured their 12th straight win Wednesday with a 12-5 home win over the Pirates.
“He called 911 because they won’t give him his free burgers for the Brewers game (Wednesday), was advised the game wasn’t over, not sure if the subject is still standing by,” said an individual in dispatch audio obtained by WISN 12 News in Wisconsin.
The backstory to this wild situation is that George Webb restaurants, a local chain, runs a promotion in which it will give away free hamburgers if the Brewers win 12 consecutive games.
The promotion began after founder George Webb predicted in the 1940s that the Brewers would claim 12 straight wins, as detailed on the company’s website.
The Brewers first accomplished the feat in 1987 and gave away a staggering total of free burgers.
“Three days, and 168,194 hamburgers later, George Webb fulfilled the payoff, to thrilled customers and Brewers fans alike,” the website reads.
Milwaukee won 12 straight again in 2018, and the company handed out 90,000 free burgers and 1000,000 redeemable vouchers.
The third free-hamburger bonanza is now on the books after Milwaukee accomplished the 12-0 feat Wednesday with a three-game sweep of the Pirates for their fourth consecutive series sweep that also included triumphs over the Mets, Braves and Nationals.
The company said Wednesday it would announce Thursday when it would run the promotion, and it seems that’s where this fan went awry.
The audio dispatch alleged the fan tried to get his burger before the game even finished, and obviously, the company had no set date yet for when the freebie would be rewarded.
While fans await the day when they can leave their wallets at home, the Brewers begin an eight-game, seven-day road trip Friday against the Reds before visiting the Cubs.
The Brewers hold a 6 1/2 game lead for the best record in baseball — which comes with home-field advantage in the World Series — and lead the Cubs by 7 1/2 games in the NL Central entering Thursday’s slate.
Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
