Billy Ray Cyrus shares sweet reaction to daughter Miley Cyrus’ engagement

No achy breaky hearts here.

Billy Ray Cyrus shared a touching message to his daughter Miley Cyrus, following her engaged to Maxx Morando.

On Wednesday, the singer, 64, posted three photos to Instagram, including one shot of himself, Miley, 33, and Dolly Parton and two pictures of the pop star and drummer, 27.

“No wonder you turned out so special … You have the greatest Godmother in the world!!! @dollyparton 🌎 So happy you and MaxxAgazillion found each other!!!!” Billy Ray captioned the post.

The hitmaker added: “Congratulations! Happy to see you both so happy!!! love Dad ❤️.”

Cyrus and Morando first started dating in 2021 before sparking engagement rumors on Monday night.

The couple walked the red carpet for the premiere of “Avatar: Fire and Ash” in Los Angeles, with the actress wearing a diamond ring on that finger.

According to Deux Moi, Cyrus was first spotted with her new bling in mid-November.

It was confirmed by jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche’s reps, Francesca Consulting, that she custom-made Cyrus’s ring.

Her rep also confirmed on social media that it was a cushion cut set in a 14K yellow gold band.

Meanwhile, while at the “Avatar: Fire and Ash” premiere, Miley spoke about writing the song “Secrets” with Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood for her dad. 

“Songs outlive us all,” she told E! News about the tune that came out in September. “That’s the fun thing about putting out music for someone that you love. It’s adding onto his legacy by attaching this song to him.”

“So, he was really honored,” gushed Miley, adding it is “inspiring to have people in your life inspired by you.” 

Along with Miley, Billy Ray shares Brandi Cyrus, 37, Trace Cyrus, 35, Braison Cyrus, 31, and Noah Cyrus, 24, with ex-wife Tish Cyrus. He is also dad to Christopher Cyrus, 32, with ex Kristin Luckey.

“It’s grown from being a little girl playing him songs on my guitar,” Miley continued, “to now being able to put them out into the world.”

In June, the “Hannah Montana” alum explained that the tune was written to Billy Ray after a brief family rift.

“I wanted him to tell me, even though there were secrets, even though I didn’t really want to know,” Miley explained on the “Reclaiming with Monica Lewinsky” podcast at the time. “I wanted to be the one he felt safe enough to tell the things that were damning and damaging to the family.”

“I wanted him to think that, as a middle child, I’m old enough that I can take some of that,” she recounted. “I always wanted my family to feel like I was the safe place, that I always had the white flag when they came to talk to me.”

The Grammy winner shared that the estrangement took place right before Tish, 58, divorced Billy Ray in 2022.

“Half of us weren’t speaking to each other at one point,” Miley detailed, noting that she felt “a lot of loyalty” to her mom.

“In that situation, I watched what happens when you don’t clean things up as they’re happening. They really do stack and then all of a sudden you go, ‘Oh my God. It’s been 10 years and this is a mess that I barely even know how to start,’” she continued. “This is like emotional hoarding.”

Miley then put in the work to repair their dynamic.

“I just bust through the pile that’s stacked, and just go, ‘I’m here. You’re here. Let’s start by having a good time together,’” she expressed. “Then, as we start bringing some happiness and joy into each other’s lives, then we’ll just be in a better place to have these conversations. ‘Cause I’d rather get it balanced first.” 

According to Miley she and her family spent the year “putting those lines of communication back together.” 

After splitting from Billy Ray, Tish tied the knot with Australian actor Dominic Purcell in 2023.

For his part, Billy Ray has been dating Elizabeth Hurley since April.
