Jimmy Kimmel Live was suspended indefinitely after Kimmel made a controversial statement about the late Charlie Kirk, sparking outrage from the FCC and ABC’s broadcast affiliates.

“I’m friendly with the ladies on The View, but they didn’t say anything about this, this week. Nothing,” Maher said.

He then joked that The View famously keeps from weighing in on hot-button topics. “You know, because it’s never been their thing to weigh in on the issues. It’s just an upbeat party show,” he joked. “That’s why they hired people named Joy [Behar] and Sunny [Hoston] and Whoopi [Goldberg].”

FCC head Brendan Carr has since threatened it could also be “worthwhile” to “look into” whether The View is violating FCC regulations.

Maher encouraged the ladies to address the situation, despite the possible consequences they could face.

“Girls, go out strong, OK? It won’t kill you, I promise,” he said. “It’s happened to me, and I may go out after this show. We don’t know.”

Maher did not mince his words as he addressed what could be the fate of many talk shows still on the air. “This intimidation on the right is just so hypocritical. I mean, everyone is scared now and they’re all trying to cowtow,” he said.

At another point of his monologue, he even took to sweet-talking Trump.

“I know why you’re happy tonight: I’m still on,” Maher opened to cheers. “Talk show hosts are going down like Blockbusters in the ’90s … Let me just tell you something, I am not intimidated by the FCC, and if President Trump is watching, I have one thing to say to you: Have you lost weight? You look terrific.”
