“I feel very fortunate to be partnering once again with the incredible team at Apple TV+, this time on a project that is very personal to me and my family,” Ben said in a statement. “It’s exciting to finally get to share it with audiences; and a great honor to celebrate my parents, both as I knew them growing up, and as I’ve come to know them in new ways through the making of this film.”

Per Apple TV+, the documentary will explore “their impact both on popular culture and at home, where the lines between creativity, family, life and art often blurred.”

The documentary will also feature perspectives from his family as he examines the impact and lessons Jerry and Meara have left behind.

Jerry passed away in May 2020 at the age of 92 from natural causes, almost five years to the day after Meara passed away at the age of 85.

Jerry led a long career in television and comedy with iconic roles in Seinfeld, King of Queens, and Hairspray. Meara also appeared in Heavyweights, Awakenings, Reality Bites and Ben’s 2006 movie Night at the Museum.

The husband and wife were also a popular comedy duo known as Stiller and Meara in the ’60s and ’70s. The duo made appearances on several variety shows including The Ed Sullivan Show.

Stiller & Meara will be Ben’s latest project for Apple TV+.

He is also the executive producer and director of Apple TV+’s critically acclaimed series, Severance.
