‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ still fired up on its third week in theaters

“Titanic” director James Cameron’s “Avatar: Fire and Ash” remains at the No. 1 spot in the box office for the third consecutive Friday, pulling in $14 million, according to The Numbers.

The third installment in the sci-fi franchise is on track to take in $36 million this weekend, the strongest earning first weekend of a new year since the COVID pandemic, as per Deadline.

Disney’s “Zootopia 2” moved up a spot to second, with sales of $7.1 million on its sixth Friday in theaters.

The animated comedy has surpassed the $1.46 billion mark globally, which means it beat out “Frozen 2” to become Walt Disney Animation Studios’ top-grossing movie of all time.

“Marty Supreme,” which opened on Christmas Day, moved down a notch to third, with over $4.6 million in revenue.

The Post called the film, which stars Timothée Chalamet as the titular table tennis prodigy, “the best movie of the year.”

In fourth was the thriller “The Housemaid,” starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried, with a $4.6 million take.

Dropping a spot to fifth was the reboot “Anaconda,” featuring Paul Rudd, Jack Black, Steve Zahn and Thandiwe Newton, which generated $3.57 in revenue.
