The Bravo honcho insisted, “There’s not much that I can say. I know nothing of the charges more than you guys do, than what I’ve read.”
Cohen said he’s “really sad” about the legal situation involving the “Real Housewives of Potomac” star and her spouse, who have starred on the reality show since 2020’s Season 5.
“I’m a Wendy fan, and she has been a great ‘Housewife’ and a great role model,” Cohen explained, noting that “she’s always led with education and her solid family values.”
Wendy, 41, has four degrees. She’s a college professor and political commentator. Meanwhile, Eddie, 40, is an attorney and entrepreneur. Together, they have three young children.
“I’m really thinking about her and her family,” Cohen told his listeners, “and I’m certainly hoping that this is all some big nothing.”
Wendy and Eddie were arrested Thursday and booked on numerous fraud charges. They spent the night at the Carroll County Detention Center in Maryland and were released the following day after posting a combined bail total of $100,000.
Wendy was indicted on 16 charges: seven felony counts of insurance fraud, eight misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and one misdemeanor count of making a false statement to a police officer.
Eddie was indicted on 18 charges: nine felony counts of insurance fraud, eight misdemeanor counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and one misdemeanor count of making a false statement to a police officer.
The charges stem from a home burglary the couple reported in April 2024. At the time, they claimed a large amount of Wendy’s jewelry and many of her designer bags, including a few of her Hermès Birkins, were stolen while they were in Jamaica on a family vacation.
Eddie went on to file claims with two different insurance companies, with both he and Wendy allegedly signing statements claiming $450,000 in property loss and $2,500 in property damage.
During their investigation, authorities began to cast doubt on the validity of the burglary, noting in part that the Osefos’ security system did not detect motion inside the residence.
Additionally, Wendy was photographed wearing one of the allegedly stolen rings shortly after the reported theft.
Moreover, the investigation determined that numerous items she and Eddie claimed were stolen had been returned for a full refund prior to the alleged burglary.
Authorities also discovered that the Osefos were “burdened by substantial debt” at the time.
Hours after their arrests made headlines, their rep told Page Six in a statement, “Dr. Wendy Osefo and her husband, Edward Osefo, are back home safely with their family and in good spirits.
“They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans and colleagues. The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court.”
The rep concluded by asking for “privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
Following the news, sleuths noticed that Wendy made a Bonnie and Clyde reference on Instagram the day she and Eddie reported the alleged burglary.
