Andy Cohen Calls Out Jenna Bush Hager For Stealing ‘WWHL’ Games For ‘Today’

When Wednesday night’s (Nov. 5) episode of Watch What Happens Live started with Jerrod Carmichael detailing how he used to go down on women before coming out as gay, we knew it was going to be an eventful half-an-hour in the Bravo Clubhouse.

During a game of “Open Mic Fright,” host Andy Cohen asked Carmichael and comedian Janelle James about the “spookiest things” that have happened to them during their standup routines. At one point during the game, Cohen asked if either of his guests had ever had a joke stolen from them.

“Many times. Mostly by men,” James said.

The Abbott Elementary star admitted that she’ll typically call out the joke-stealers in a “roundabout way,” telling Cohen, “I say, ‘Hey, I used to have a joke like that. That reminds me of a joke I used to have.’”

Cohen, for his part, could relate to James. According to the Bravo icon, other shows often steal games that originated on Watch What Happens Live — and he wasn’t afraid to name names.

“We get games stolen all of the time, and we say nothing,” he told his guests, before staring into the camera and adding, “‘Prompter Wars,’ I’m looking at you, Jenna Bush [Hager]!”

“Prompter Wars” is a game that stemmed from Watch What Happens Live. The rules? Cohen and his guests must read from a fast-moving teleprompter—often consisting of nonsensical sentences—without making any mistakes. Cohen has enlisted guests like Gayle King, Anderson Cooper, and Seth Meyers in the competitive game.

While “Prompter Wars” was invented on WWHL, Hager has played the game with a handful of guest co-hosts on Today with Jenna & Friends, including celebrities like Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

Watch What Happens Live airs Sunday through Thursday at 10 p.m. ET on Bravo. New episodes are available to stream the next day on Peacock.
