The Bravo boss explained that they always start with dinner and “always sit on the same side of the booth.”
“We sit next to each other always,” he reiterated before denying that they hold hands.
However, Cohen admitted to “sinking” into the singer as the night goes on because the “Free Fallin’” singer will have his arm around him.
“As a matter of fact, we were at The Sunset Tower last week, and I was getting so physical with him by the end that he was like, ‘Andy,’ but I was kinda using him to tell a story about a guy,” he recounted, admitting that he “was in the cups a little bit.”
“We were in a puddle of laughter,” the Emmy Award-winning producer noted. “We love each other deeply, we actually do!”
When asked if he was secretly in love with Mayer, he simply said, “No, we love each other.
“If I could find a gay guy that was him, it would be magic. But you know what? I’m so grateful for the love that we have.”
Cohen, 57, and Mayer, 48, have been friends for over a decade, with many questioning if there was something romantic between them.
The “Watch What Happens Live” host was forced to address the buzz in May 2024, telling the Hollywood Reporter, “Let them speculate! I honestly love John Mayer, and he loves me.
“But because we’re so affectionate toward each other, people don’t know what box to put that in. They assume we’re sleeping with each other, which we are most definitely not.”
Mayer himself later slammed THR for how they phrased their question, which read in part, “People seem dubious that a straight rock star can have a close platonic relationship with a gay TV personality.”
The “Gravity” singer personally emailed the outlet and said he was “intrigued” by the question, calling the notion that a “straight rock star” and a “gay TV personality” a “specious premise.”
“To suggest that people are dubious of a friendship like mine and Andy’s is to undermine the public’s ability to accept and understand diversity in all facets of culture, be it in art or in real life,” he criticized.
“I’d like to think they’re sophisticated enough to see a relationship like ours without assuming it must include a sexual component. That turns the concept of being gay into an ignorantly two-dimensional one, which I know you know it’s not. I don’t question that at all.”
He then concluded, “Quite simply, if someone is dubious of a platonic relationship between a straight man and a gay man, I don’t think that shallow a view deserves clarification by anyone with self respect, be it Andy or your publication.
“Reinforcing the idea that any gay/straight relationship needs qualification that it’s not sexual devoids everyone involved of their dignity.”
Cohen revealed during his interview with Cooper that he is single, though he is looking for love in dating apps.
As for Mayer, he has been dubbed a ladies’ man for his long history of dating famous women, including Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. Most recently, he was linked to Kat Stickler.
