Anders Lee reveals his Islanders contract outlook to The Post
It is a testament to the culture the Islanders have built, both before and during Anders Lee’s captaincy, that they could go into training camp with Lee, in a contract year, unsigned for next season without it being any kind of distraction.
Just as was the case with Brock Nelson and Noah Dobson a year ago, the Islanders know how to keep a lid on this publicly. Those storylines did not dominate the discourse until the rubber hit the road in the days before Nelson and Dobson were dealt to Colorado and Montreal, respectively. Lee’s contractual situation won’t either.

Still, the Islanders captain does not have an extension signed and — barring a major reversal — will go into the season without one too, Lee told The Post on Friday.
“We’ve been on the same page the entire time,” Lee said, referring to himself and general manager Mathieu Darche. “He’s had a job to do this summer. He had a lot on his plate when he was introduced. I have a job as a veteran on this team to make myself better and focus on this season. I think we’ve both taken that approach, we’re on the same page with that.
