Amy Schumer’s charming New Orleans cottage asks $1.25M

Amy Schumer is saying “au revoir” to her French Quarter cottage. 

The multi-hyphenate comedian filled the New Orleans pied-à-terre with antique treasures and colorful murals. After only four years of ownership, Schumer is ready to part with her “dream dramatic New Orleans hang” — for $1.25 million. 

This sale, first reported by Nola.com, marks Schumer’s second real estate off-load of the year. She also listed her family’s massive Brooklyn home in March. It now asks $12.75 million.

Schumer, 44, gave the media company Homeworthy a tour of the circa-1886 home back in May. She recalled falling in love with the city of jazz when she was just 16. Her opportunity to own a historic home there came in 2021. 

Schumer and her husband, Chris Fischer, painstakingly renovated the property over the next year. The work included installing a new slate roof and overhauling the kitchen.

“I think people would probably (think) that I’m a hoarder and live under a bunch of neon bar signs, but I actually like being around beauty … and really drunk people.”

Schumer lovingly maintained the home’s historic character, maintaining its ornate fireplaces, hardwood floors and an original chandelier, but she added her own touches, including handpainted murals and a state-of-the-art Toto toilet.

Their couple’s collection of antiques can be seen throughout the listing photos, ranging from playful cat chandeliers to stained glass sourced from New York’s own Olde Good Things. 

“Everything you see is something Chris and I fell in love with,” she told Homeworthy.

Fischer, a chef and farmer, had a major hand in designing the large kitchen, which features generous storage, a massive wooden island and high-end appliances. 

The home looks deceptively modest from the street, but its 1,967-square-foot interiors boast lofty ceilings, tall windows and two sizable bedrooms. A secluded courtyard in the back includes two covered porches and an L-shaped pool.

The comedian’s cottage sits on prime French Quarter real estate, sandwiched between Bourbon and Dauphine Streets. The location is so prime, in fact, that Schumer has reportedly been known to crash wedding second line parades that pass by her front door.

The listing comes less than a year after Schumer put her Brooklyn townhouse up for sale. The 19th-century home spans 5,568 square feet and starred in the classic 1987 film “Moonstruck.” 

It hit the market in March for $14 million, and lowered it to its current asking price in July. Schumer, a native New Yorker, told the Wall Street Journal that the sale was part of a planned move to Manhattan for her and Fischer’s 5-year-old son.

“He got into a good school, and we’re too lazy to commute 45 minutes to take our son to school every day,” she told the Journal.
