AirBnb guests shocked to find ridiculous rule for using the bed

If this bed’s a-rocking, don’t come a-rentin’.

A couple staying in an Istanbul-based Airbnb shared an odd note they found taped to the host’s bed — and social media users can’t stop cracking jokes.

Reddit user Responsible-Lack-285 shared a photo of a white piece of paper that was taped onto a wooden bed frame that read, “Use only to sleep/no other activities.”

“Found this in an Airbnb in Istanbul,” the user, a man traveling from Sweden with his wife, shared on Nov. 30. “Came here with my wife. Oh well.”

The couple said they were “surprised” to come across the sign in the Airbnb — and it wasn’t the only warning they encountered.

The guest shared another photo in the comments of the Reddit post showing that the TV remote had a sticker label on it that read, “Use only to turn the TV on/off.”

He told Newsweek that there was yet another note in the apartment that explained that the neighbors are “very sensitive to noise.”

“So, maybe it has something to do with that. That’s my best guess,” he told the outlet.

Despite the shock, the guests said that they’ll be respecting the rule — and he doesn’t think it should change anyone’s opinions on Istanbul as a city.

“If I had one message is that the sticker situation shouldn’t reflect on anyone’s perception of Istanbul. It’s a lovely city with great people, and we feel very welcome here,” he shared.

“It’s more likely a neighbor situation that can happen anywhere.”

Reddit users took to the comments to share their own theories of why the host made sure to include the blunt note.

“I feel like this means they aren’t planning to wash the sheets,” a user surmised.

“The other possibility is that the bed may break. It may not be sturdy enough for ‘activities,’” another speculated.

“Either the bed is not that sturdy, or the owner got traumatized by a past couple leaving the place a complete mess. I can respect that,” one guessed.

When Newsweek contacted Airbnb about the sign, a spokesperson said, “We’ve been unable to verify that this is an Airbnb listing, however our ground rules require hosts to disclose applicable house rules before booking, so guests can make an informed decision about a space, and our 24/7 Community Support team is on hand to help in the rare event of any issues during a stay.”
