Actor, director Timothy Busfield facing child sex abuse charges

An arrest warrant has been issued for Timothy Busfield, the actor and director best known for his roles in “Field of Dreams” and the TV show “Thirtysomething,” on allegations of sexual abuse involving a minor in New Mexico.

The investigation into the matter was launched in November 2024 when an officer was dispatched to the University of New Mexico Hospital after a doctor called police, according to court docs obtained by KOAT on Friday.

Busfield, who worked on the program from 2022 to 2025 as a director, allegedly “grew closer to the boys” during their time shooting the show together.

The “Revenge of the Nerds” star, 68, allegedly told the kids to call him “Uncle Tim” and tickled them on their stomach and legs, per the warrant filed by Albuquerque police on Jan. 4.

Hospital staff reportedly told the responding officers that it appeared the children had been groomed, according to the court docs.

Busfield now faces two counts of sexual contact with a minor and child abuse. It is currently unclear whether the Emmy-winning actor had been booked as of Friday afternoon.

Besides having more than 700 combined credits as an actor, producer and director in TV and film, Busfield won an Emmy Award for his role as Elliot Weston on the hit series “Thirtysomething” in 1991.

The show aired on ABC for four seasons from 1987 to 1991, and the ensemble drama also starred Ken Olin, Mel Harris, Patricia Wettig and Peter Horton.

As for his personal life, Busfield is married to “Little House on the Prairie” star Melissa Gilbert.

The couple, who married in 2013 and don’t share any children, made headlines in November when Gilbert, 61, shared rare photos of them out and about together enjoying a date.

“This is how we do a date day: Driving through stunning beauty to go get our favorite vegan food and then to see [“Black Phone 2″] followed by grocery shopping,” Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls Wilder in “Little House on the Prairie,” wrote on Instagram alongside the pics.

“We are a wild pair [Tim Busfield] and I!” she added.

The Post has reached out to Busfield and Gilbert’s reps for comment.
