Accused sandwich-slinging ex-DOJ employee silent leaving court

The former Department of Justice employee caught on camera chucking a Subway sandwich while screaming at federal agents last month was speechless outside of court Wednesday after facing a misdemeanor assault charge.

Sean Charles Dunn, 37, standing with hands behind his back in a federal courtroom in Washington, DC, bent over and said through a microphone, “Not guilty,” according to a report by the Hill.

DC federal Judge Carl Nichols said the trial would start with jury selection on Nov. 3.

Neither Dunn nor his lawyer, Sabrina Shroff, commented to reporters on their way out following the brief hearing.

Dunn, who worked as an internal affairs specialist in the DOJ’s criminal division, was initially charged with felony assault for throwing the sub at the chest of a Customs and Border Protection agent — a move that was captured on a video that has since gone viral.

But the feds were unable to secure a grand jury indictment, prompting them to downgrade the charge to a misdemeanor count of assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers.

The video showed Dunn going up to a group of CPB agents while apparently drunk and screaming that they were “fascists” before hurling the sandwich at the chest of one of the officers.

“I don’t want you in my city!” he could be heard yelling during the Aug. 10 confrontation, which took place on the corner of 14th and U streets.

Dunn then tried to flee, but officers caught up to him and arrested him, the video showed.

Dunn was fired from his DOJ post because of the arrest.

Trump’s surge of federal law enforcement to the nation’s capital since Aug. 7 has resulted in more than 2,000 arrests.

At least 850 federal agents have been deployed so far.
