A subway surfing solution and more: Letters

Subway ‘sliders’

There must be a way to stop young men and women from wanting to get their thrills by riding on the top of subway trains (“Girls ID’d in train tragedy,” Oct. 7).

I had a thought: If the MTA can locate a greasy, slimy oil to spray on the tops of the trains, people will not be able to climb up because they would just slip down while climbing.

If somehow they do manage to get on top, they will not be able to stay on as they will slide off before the train starts moving. Better to break an arm or a leg sliding off than to lose a life.

Sanchez stabbing

After seeing the front page of Tuesday’s Post, I felt certain that Mark Sanchez had unreported concussions (“Sanchez tested,” Oct. 6).

Why else would a sane man have a drunken “stab battle” that is completely out of character? He may have had head injuries in his medical history that were not taken seriously.

I think that parents who have a child interested in playing football should first watch the movie “Concussion” together.

Adams in Albania

Mayor Adams’ visit to Albania is one of many international trips he’s taken since 2022, according to my calculations (“Adams jets to Albania sans perks,” Oct. 7).

His previous trips include Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Italy and Greece. He was elected to run New York, not run away from it.

But now that his time as mayor is running out, perhaps it would have been a good idea for Adams to jet to Albania and stay there. His job prospects there may be better than those in New York City, where his arrogance got him in trouble.

Yom Kippur horror

The heinous attack on Jews on Yom Kippur in Manchester, England, should come as no surprise (“ ‘Jew-kill’ boast in UK attack,” Oct. 9).

British officials routinely demonize Israel at the United Nations, accusing it of genocide in Gaza without ever detailing why the Jewish state is left no choice but to defend itself against those who seek its destruction. In doing this, England promotes antisemitism and encourages attacks on Jews worldwide.

The Times’ failure

As an alumnus, Michael Goodwin knows The New York Times well (“Times covers up Jack Smith spying,” Oct. 8).

The Times has failed its readers. A news organization is there to give us the news as it is, not make up its own version.

Everyone, even readers of the Times, knows the truth about our legal system. We all like to take the high road and say “nobody is above the law.” Yet we know, deep down, that justice is not the same for all.

Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden definitely weaponized the justice system; there’s not a shred of doubt about it. President Trump is also said to be weaponizing it, but is he really? Or is he simply seeking justice? Nobody can say yet.

The only sure thing is that the justice system was used against Trump and his allies.

Disney’s cash cow

Regarding “Disney whirled! Park prices hit records” (Oct. 9): As my husband always said at Disney World while he was reaching for his credit card to pay: “Mickey Mouse loves children, but not poor children.”
