Who was Tommy Lee Jones’ daughter Victoria? Inside her troubled past before shocking death

On New Year’s Day, Victoria Jones, the daughter of Tommy Lee Jones, was found dead at age 34 at the the Fairmont San Francisco hotel. 

According to a 911 dispatch audio, the suspected cause was a drug overdose. An official cause of death has not been disclosed, and it’s still under investigation. 

There was no sign of foul play and no drug paraphernalia at the scene, a source told the Daily Mail. There was also no indication her death was a suicide.

She was reportedly found on the 14th floor of the California hotel, by a guest who thought she had drunkenly passed out.

Victoria was the daughter of the “No Country for Old Men” actor and his first wife, Kimberlea Cloughley.

When she was younger, she had her own acting career, appearing alongside her father in “Men in Black II,” and she had a small role in the TV show “One Tree Hill.”

According to records obtained by the Post, she was arrested at least three times in the past year.

Relationship with her her dad

Nearly two decades before her passing, the “Men in Black” actor spoke fondly about working with his then- teenage daughter, in a 2006 interview with The New Yorker

At the time, Victoria was 14 and appeared in the film “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,” playing a young Mexican girl. Tommy Lee directed it. 

He seemed proud of Victoria, praising his daughter as a “good actress,” who “has her SAG card, speaks impeccable Spanish.” 

“The Fugitive” actor credited her language skills to her childhood, explaining that when she was a baby, he asked her nurse to speak to her in Spanish.

He also told an anecdote about how he once “fired” her. 

“She had to get up at 5 a.m. for her part,” he recalled. “One morning, she wouldn’t get out of bed. I said, ‘Honey, this is work.’ But she wouldn’t budge. So I fired her.”

However, that didn’t last long. 

“Then, without telling me, the production staff went over and woke her and rushed her out to the set just in time,” he said.

What roles did she do onscreen?

Victoria Jones’ acting résumé included, “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,” as a young Mexican girl when she was 14. She also appeared in “Men in Black II” alongside her father, and she had a small role in the teen drama TV series “One Tree Hill,” as a cheerleader. 

She didn’t pursue acting past her teen years. Her last role was in 2014’s “The Homesman,” a historical drama which her father directed, co-wrote, and starred in. Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank, Jesse Plemmons, John Lithgow, and Hailee Steinfeld were also in the star-studded cast. 

Although she took a step back from acting, she still accompanied her dad to many red carpets, such as ”Just Getting Started” in 2017. Her last red carpet with him was in Oct. 2017, when he was on the jury of the Tokyo film festival.

Rap sheet/troubled past and arrests

Victoria had a troubled past that included numerous brushes with the law. Around the time that she stepped back from acting, she developed a rap sheet. In 2011, she got arrested for theft in the amount of $50 to $500. The charge was later dismissed.

In 2025, Victoria was arrested at least twice in Napa County, Calif., for obstructing a peace officer, using or being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a narcotic controlled substance, as well as domestic battery and domestic violence/elder abuse.

She pleaded not guilty to all charges.

A San Francisco police officer who had dealings with Victoria told The Post she struggled with substance abuse issues and suspected her death was “fentanyl-related.”

“People get all their drugs with fentanyl now. They [drug dealers] have it on everything they measure with, [so] everything gets laced,” the officer explained.

Tomnmy Lee has not spoken publicly about his daughter’s arrests or troubles.

Who is her mom?

Victoria was the daughter of Jones and his second wife, photographer Kimberlea Cloughley to whom he was married from 1981 to 1996. Victoria was born in 1991 and her brother Austin was born in 1982. 

Cloughley is the daughter of a politician, as her father, Phil Hardberger, 91, was the Mayor of San Antonio, Texas, from 2005 to 2009. 

Cloughley has largely stayed out of the spotlight, even as her ex-husband’s Oscar winning career took off. She raised her kids on a Texas ranch, away from Hollywood. 

Who are her siblings? 

Austin Jones, 43, is Victoria’s surviving brother. Although Tommy has been married three times – to actress Katherine Lardner from 1971 to 1978, to Cloughley from 1981 to ‘96, and toDawn Lauren since 2001 – Victoria and Austin were his only children. 

Austin followed his dad into showbiz, but he stepped into music rather than acting. 

The father and son pair worked on “The Homesman” in 2014, which was Victoria’s final movie, too. Tommy wrote, directed, and starred in the film. 

Tommy Lee told Movies.ie at the time, “We had a music supervisor who went through the archives of 19th century music that would have been expected in that part of the world. That music supervisor, I am happy to say, is my son; Austin Leonard Jones, who is the banjo player n the barge at the end of the movie. “ 

Austin also has composing credits on the films “Metamorphosis: Junior Year” and “Frontera.” 

Austin has  also had his own music career, releasing 2022’s “Dead Calm” album and 2023’s “At the Polo Club,” and he toured across America last year. 

On his Instagram, which has since been made private, Austin said about his music crew, “We are all old friends and road runners who have been singing and screaming together for well over a decade in TX, AZ, OR & WA.”
