Ole Miss star Zxavian Harris blasts ex-coach Lane Kiffin for headline-grabbing antics
Lane Kiffin is gone from Ole Miss, but he’s not forgotten.
After the Rebels’ upset win over Georgia on Thursday night in the College Football Playoff (CFP) quarterfinals, Kiffin’s former players made clear they didn’t appreciate the now-LSU head coach keeping his name in the headlines by saying he wanted to attend the game.

Senior defensive tackle Zxavian Harris called Kiffin leaving before the playoffs a “slap in the face.”
As for Kiffin’s interest in showing up to their game Thursday, Harris added, according to ESPN, “He was just trying to steal our shine. That’s all he’s trying to do. That’s all he’s been trying to do, is steal our shine.”

Kiffin didn’t end up going to the game Thursday, instead attending the No. 5 LSU women basketball’s team home loss to No. 12 Kentucky.
The drama surrounding Ole Miss’ improbable run stems from Kiffin’s decision to bolt Mississippi for LSU even with the Rebels in the CFP.
After Kiffin’s stunning move to Baton Rouge, which included him taking several Ole Miss assistant coaches to the rival SEC school, the Rebels have gone on to pummel Tulane in the first round and then hung on to complete a comeback win over No. 3 Georgia in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans.
His replacement, Kiffin’s former defensive coordinator Pete Golding, has led the Rebels to both of their playoff wins.

They’ll next face No. 10 Miami in the semifinals in the Fiesta Bowl on Thursday and Ole Miss is using Kiffin’s departure as motivation.
“Like a slap and the backhand,’’ Harris said, according to ESPN, of Kiffin’s actions. “He was trying to be a troll. We’re going to troll him. We’ve got something for him.”
They’re now one win away from playing for a national title and sources told ESPN following Thursday’s game that it is still not known how many of the Ole Miss assistants who are headed to LSU with Kiffin will be permitted to continue to coach the Rebels.
Complicating matters is the fact that the transfer portal opened Friday, beginning a two-week window in which players can seek new teams for next season.
