Former NYC Mayor Eric Adams Rips Andy Cohen After Latest Drunken Political Rant: “Public Intoxication Is A Disease”

Andy Cohen‘s latest political rant has found him in hot water with former New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

While hosting CNN’s New Year’s Eve special alongside Anderson Cooper on Wednesday night (Dec. 31), Cohen drunkenly called out Adams’ “chaotic” and “horrible” run as mayor of NYC, which officially came to an end on Jan. 1 when Zohran Mamdani was sworn in as his successor.

“I just want to say, I mean he’s got his pardons, he’s pardoned. Great, you got your pardons, go off in the sunset. We’ll fiddle with what we have, with what you left us with,” Cohen said, referring to a judge’s decision to dismiss the federal corruption charges against Adams in April 2025.

“You pardoned your way through four years, and all the clubs, we’ll see you there,” he continued. “I just want to say, goodbye Mayor Adams, you did it, you did it, you did it, didn’t you?”

Following Cohen’s outburst, Adams took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to urge the Watch What Happens Live host to seek help for his drinking.

“My response to @Andy: AA,” Adams wrote on the platform. “Another sloppy drunken rant. If anyone actually cares about him, they’ll tell him to get help. New Yorkers aren’t laughing with him. They are concerned about him. Public intoxication is a disease. He should seek help. He was safe in Times Square because we did our job. Again.”

Adams added, “Seek help. AAA: Andy’s Alcohol Anonymous.”

Cohen’s drunken rants have become somewhat of a staple for CNN’s New Year’s Eve broadcasts, though he did find himself in trouble back in 2022 when, after slamming then-Mayor Bill de Blasio as “horrible” and calling Ryan Seacrest and his Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve crew a “group of losers,” CNN banned the co-hosts from drinking on-the-air the following year.

After many complaints (both from viewers and the co-hosts themselves), the network slowly reintroduced alcohol to the broadcast, and it looks like Cohen is now back to his old antics.

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
