Cheers to a new year!

New Year’s Day in New York can often feel like a zombie apocalypse, with desolate, refuse-littered streets, half-dead pedestrians staggering about, and of course, shuttered stores for miles.

In fact, many purveyors close their doors early the night before in preparation for the Times Square stampede, like something out of the “Purge” movies. Unfortunately, this can be a major obstacle for anyone trying to stock up on supplies for 2026.

Thankfully, there are still retailers, pharmacies and other purveyors that will remain open on NYD — albeit with modified hours.

As a service to supply-strapped New Yorkers, The Post provided a guide on what’s open and closed on the first day of the new year.

Neither rain nor sleet nor snow will stop the mail — but New Year’s Day will. USPS will be closed during the holiday, while only UPS Domestic Ground, Air and International will be operational on New Year’s Eve.

Limited UPS retail outlets will be open both days, with UPS Express Critical remaining open for both.

FedEx will be closed for New Year’s Day except for its Custom Critical service.

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
