“We communicated this afternoon, and he made it clear that he would like for me to attend, and I would like to be there to show the smooth, peaceful transition of power. We both know how important that is,” Adams told John Catsimatidis and Rita Cosby.

“I just wanted to make sure that, as I said to him, ‘I don’t want to do anything to disrupt this important moment in history.’ And [Mamdani] said, ’No, Eric … It would be good to see you there.’”

For weeks now, Adams has been noncommittal on whether he would break with tradition and bail on the incoming mayor’s welcoming party at City Hall — or if he would even be in the country come Thursday.

Adams, who is a moderate Democrat, even said Monday he wasn’t sure he’d attend because of how Mamdani’s supporters “protest everything.”

The one-term mayor called it quits during his long shot reelection bid earlier this year, and put his weight behind former Gov. Andrew Cuomo at the last minute.

Adams, a staunch supporter of Israel, has spoken out against the Democratic Socialists of America and pro-Palestinian protestors. Mamdani is both a proud DSA member and outspoken Palestinian supporter.
