Minnesota’s shocking welfare fraud: Letters

The Issue: The $9 billion in public funds lost to fraud in Minnesota via welfare and day-care scams.
As a law-abiding American citizen, it is beyond comprehension how this obscene amount of fraud has been allowed to prevail in Minnesota (“ICE storm in Minnesota,” Dec. 30).
Seeing the fake daycare facilities that have received millions of dollars with no participants visible is mind-boggling. The reports also mention these facilities were cited for various violations several times over these past years, yet nothing was resolved.

Gov. Tim Walz and Rep. Ilhan Omar need to be held accountable with the rest of the fraudsters. We don’t want “hearings upon hearings” in Washington. We want the FBI to do its job and root out these despicable criminals.

The Democrats cried when DOGE was unleashed to uncover the fraud in government agencies, like USAID. Now we are peeling back the layers of onion involving what appears to be widespread fraud throughout Minnesota.
Is there any doubt that the same amount of fraud would be uncovered in the state of New York if it was to be investigated?
When is the MTA going to be investigated? That way we can see how much the taxpayers have been exploited over the years.

I’d like to thank President Trump for doing the job that former President Joe Biden failed to do.
Authorities are investigating an estimated $9 billion stolen from taxpayers, much of it apparently by illegal immigrants, in Minneapolis. It’s about time agents start arresting criminals. If agents have to go door to door to stop the suspected fraud sites, then so be it.

With the latest news out of Minnesota, many Americans are having nightmares of what would’ve happened if Walz had been vice president.
Only a fool would vote for Walz, and only a fool would choose him to be their running mate.

Minnesotans should be outraged that close to $10 billion has been wasted on fraudsters.
Somali migrants seem to have been taking advantage of Minnesotans for years. I’m sure there are plenty of Somalis who’ve embraced America, but I’m doubly sure there are plenty of grifters.
The jackass in charge, Walz, and his colleagues are complicit in this tax-fraud abomination. To think he wanted to be vice president is sickening.

And to think Walz was going to help run our country. He can’t even figure out what’s going on in his own state.
Billions of dollars taken, and he knew nothing? That’s hard to believe.

The Issue: Jimmy Kimmel saying it was a “really great year” for fascism in his UK-exclusive broadcast.
If we truly lived under a fascist regime, Jimmy Kimmel’s show, and a litany of other leftist shows and news outlets, would be abolished (“Kimmel cranks up lefty volume,” Andrea Peyser, Dec. 27).
Opposing politicians would be abolished. Anyone criticizing this administration would be arrested. Not one of these things has taken place.
Rest assured, myself and many other right-leaning Americans would never let this happen.

It’s ironic Kimmel went on British TV to whine about free speech in the United States when, this past year, London authorities said they’d come after anyone who engaged in online rhetoric violating British law.
It appears TDS is perfectly acceptable in the UK.
