Jonathan Bennett and Lacey Chabert Tease Which ‘Mean Girls’ Co-Star They Would Like To Welcome Into the Hallmark Universe
Before Lacey Chabert and Jonathan Bennett became Hallmark Channel mainstays, one was trying to make fetch happen and the other was asking what day it was (Oct. 3, duh). But the Mean Girls co-stars have actually yet to co-star in one of the network’s signature Christmas movie.
DECIDER caught up with both Bennett and Chabert, who played Aaron Samuels and Gretchen Wieners in the 2004 comedy, at Weekend 2 of the Hallmark Christmas Experience, and inquired as to who of their former fellow North Shore High School alumni they think would be a great fit for a Hallmark movie.

“First of all, I want to do a Christmas movie with Lacey,” Bennett noted. “We haven’t done one yet. I think that would be really fun just to reconnect. We haven’t done that yet. I think we both want to, we’re just trying to figure out what that looks like and what the right one is.”
As for which Mean Girls alum he would like to welcome into the Hallmark fold, Bennett ultimately settled on the actress behind Karen Smith.
“You know who I think would be really fun is to get Amanda Seyfried in here,” he shared. “I think those big blue eyes, and she has such a sweet demeanor to her. I think she would really fit in this world and pop in a Hallmark movie.”
Meanwhile Chabert felt that all of her Mean Girls co-stars “would be great,” finding difficulty settling on “just one name.”

“And I love a reunion. It was so fun when Scott Wolf and I got to make a Christmas movie a few years ago,” she said of her Party of Five co-star, who starred alongside her in Hallmark’s A Merry Scottish Christmas. “That was an incredible reunion. And that is my favorite thing about this business, when your paths continue to cross, and you never know what’s possible. I just love he unexpected surprises.”
Mean Girls is streaming on Paramount+.
