Fired ABC reporter Terry Moran rips Trump over Somali ‘garbage’ remarks: ‘Sickening’

Fired ABC News reporter Terry Moran tore into President Trump, blasting his attack on Rep. Ilhan Omar and Somali Americans as “sickening” and slamming top administration officials for staying silent.

“They sold their souls to Trump! And think of the cost,” Moran fumed in a video posted on X hours after Trump on Tuesday declared he was tired of Somalis “ripping off” the US and that the country “cannot afford to continue to take ‘garbage’ into our country” like Omar and Somalis “like her.”

Moran contended that cabinet members like Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio knew Trump’s remarks went too far but still chose to do nothing.

“But not a single one, not one, said a word. And they never will,” Moran said.

The White House said Thursday that Trump was “absolutely right to highlight the problems caused by the radical Somali migrants that the Democrats let invade our country and steal from American taxpayers.”

“For example, Tim Walz has allowed Somali refugees to turn Minnesota into a hub of fraudulent money laundering activity to fund lavish lifestyles overseas at the expense of American taxpayers,” White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson said in a statement, referring to the state’s Dem governor.

“While the media and Democrats feign outrage, Americans who have suffered at the hands of these schemes will celebrate the President’s comments and strong support for AMERICAN citizens,” she concluded.

Moran’s tirade followed a televised Cabinet meeting in which the president said he did not want more Somalis in the US, claimed they “do nothing but b—h” and urged those currently here to leave.

“They contribute nothing. I don’t want them in our country, I’ll be honest with you,” Trump said.

“Some will say that is not ‘politically correct.’ I don’t care. Their country is no good for a reason.”

Trump also escalated his yearslong feud with lefty “Squad” member Omar, saying he has watched her “complain about our Constitution … how she is treated badly, the United States is a bad place and hates everybody, hates Jewish people, hates everybody,” adding, “She’s a terrible person.”

Moran said Trump’s language crossed a line unfit for any public official.

“Presidents should not talk like that. No decent person should call any other person ‘garbage.’ But Trump does it, not just because he is that kind of man, but for political reasons,” Moran said.

“He wants to drag people down to his level, give them permission to become the worst version of themselves, and join him in remaking our country in his image.”

Moran, whom ABC fired in June after he called longtime Trump adviser Stephen Miller a “world-class hater,” has moved to YouTube and Substack, drawing a combined audience of more than 150,000 followers.

Trump’s controversial remarks came amid mounting national attention on a sweeping Minnesota fraud scandal that federal prosecutors say siphoned over $1 billion in taxpayer money from social-services programs.

Investigators charged dozens of people for multiple schemes involving child-meal reimbursements, housing assistance and autism therapy services.

Prosecutors said all but eight of the 86 defendants are of Somali ancestry, with 59 convicted so far.

The fraud allegedly spanned years and involved hundreds of sham providers billing state agencies for services that were never delivered.

“We’re losing our way of life in Minnesota in a very real way,” Joseph H. Thompson, the federal prosecutor overseeing the cases, told the New York Times.

The first wave of indictments emerged in 2022, when federal agents uncovered a vast meals-for-children scheme tied to Feeding Our Future.

Businesses in the alleged fraud claimed to have fed tens of thousands of kids, but prosecutors said most of the meals never existed and defendants instead used the money for luxury cars, real estate and overseas investments.

As investigators dug deeper, they uncovered additional plots — including a housing program that ballooned from a projected $2.6 million to more than $100 million in reimbursements and an autism therapy scheme that prosecutors say paid parents kickbacks to falsely certify children for treatment.

The Post has sought comment from the White House.
