Why Evan Roberts won’t reunite with Craig Carton for WFAN return

Evan Roberts is a happily married man.

The WFAN host wasn’t talking about his wife on Wednesday, rather his partnership with Tiki Barber that has been going two years strong since Craig Carton ended his second stint at the station to focus full-time on his FS1 morning show.

With the TV show canceled, Carton is nearing a deal to return to WFAN once again. And while Roberts liked working with Carton, he’s moved on.

“I loved working with Craig. Let me make something clear, he’s the one who left me. I didn’t leave, he left,” Roberts said on the air Wednesday. “And when he left — which I respected and I had no problem with — I looked to get married again.”

“And I invited him over to my nice bar in my basement,” Barber chimed in.

“And then we made love. And now I’m married,” Roberts replied. “So for my ex-wife to come back and say, ‘Oh, you want to sleep with me again?’ I mean, I have no problem with a one-night stand here or there, but I’m married. But it doesn’t mean I didn’t have incredible joy doing that program. And the truth is — and I hope you [Barber] as my new wife don’t take this personally — if he never left, we’d still be together making beautiful music. Which, not my fault.”

Carton, 56, worked with Roberts in the afternoon drive slot, which he’s set to take over once again starting next month.

Roberts and Barber will move to the midday slot, where Roberts worked with Joe Benigno for many years, and Chris McMonigle is a leading candidate to partner with Roberts, The Athletic reported Tuesday.

That leaves the futures of current midday hosts, Brandon Tierney and Sal Licata, up in the air.

“To me, it was always inevitable when he left that he would come back,” Licata said during his and Tierney’s show on Wednesday. “With that said, nothing is official. I’m grateful to have the opportunity to do this show with you every day, and we’ll continue to do that as long as we have that opportunity.”

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
