Draymond Green sounds off on leaving pregnant wife for Warriors’ road trip: ‘Pretty sh–ty’

Draymond Green didn’t try to sugarcoat it Tuesday night — he told media members going on the road while his pregnant wife remains at home is “pretty sh–tty.”

Green opened up on his situation just after Golden State fell to the Thunder at Chase Center in San Francisco, explaining having to leave the Bay Area for the next few weeks to play road tilts for the Warriors “sucks.”

“Pretty s—ty, if I’m honest,” he said. “But, nonetheless, this is my job. And I love to do my job. But it’s terrible, if I’m honest.”

Green’s spouse, Hazel Renee, announced in September she was pregnant with her and Green’s third child. And while an official due date is not yet known, it seems a delivery is imminent.

But Green and the Warriors are slated to spend five of their next six games outside of California, and the four-time NBA champ made it clear he’s not thrilled about being away from his significant other.

“It’s been tough,” he said. “We’ve been gone so much. I haven’t seen my family much over the last month, really.”

Green, though, did get the opportunity to spend time with family during the Warriors’ 124-112 loss to Oklahoma City. His son, Draymond Jr., helped out on the team bench, and Green was able to make some memories with him, including introducing him to Chet Holmgren in the postgame.

“Anytime you can give them those experiences that quite honestly money can’t buy,” he said, “I’m always forever grateful.”

The Warriors travel to Philadelphia for a game against the Sixers on Thursday, and then they’ll hit Cleveland and Chicago for Saturday and Sunday matchups with the Cavaliers and Bulls. In total, the Warriors will only play one home game between Tuesday night and Dec. 20.

Let’s be honest—no matter how stressful the day gets, a good viral video can instantly lift your mood. Whether it’s a funny pet doing something silly, a heartwarming moment between strangers, or a wild dance challenge, viral videos are what keep the internet fun and alive.
