‘The View’s Whoopi Goldberg Calls Out Trump Administration Amid Complaint About Her $1,000 Eye Drops: “They’re Trying To Choke Us Out Of Our Medication”

Whoopi Goldberg is calling on Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services, to lower the cost of prescription medication.

On this morning’s episode of The View, Joy Behar slammed President Donald Trump for appointing the “most unqualified administration” in United States history. She noted that Sean Duffy, the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Transportation and the acting administrator of NASA, is a former television personality who starred in MTV’s Real World, while our Secretary of Education, Linda McMahon, was previously the CEO of the Worldwide Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

“The Republicans in Congress just sit back and let this unfold for the American people,” she said. “It’s a disgrace.”

Behar also took aim at Kennedy, who, despite his lack of medical background, currently serves as the Secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Goldberg, for her part, had some advice for Kennedy.

“I have eyedrops that I take every day because my eyes are funny. In the United States, it cost me $1,000,” she said. “You know what it costs in Europe? €20.”

“So, RFK, you really want to do something for the people? You really want to get people understanding what could be done with the power of the government?” she continued. “Make sure we’re not overpaying insanely for our drugs. Why are we paying the way we are? Fix that!”

Behar joked that it’s “worth it to take a trip to Europe” to purchase the eye drops, while Sunny Hostin noted that most people can’t even afford that option.

“I would like to go to Europe, not having to worry about not having my medication,” Goldberg added. “Do you know how many medications in this country go for that much money? A lot of them. That’s one of the things they’re trying to do to us. They’re trying to choke us out of our medication. That is not America first.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
