Cheryl Hines joins forces with Melania Trump and Usha Vance as Hollywood casts her out for ‘going MAGA’

Cheryl Hines joined forces with first lady Melania Trump and second lady Usha Vance on Monday — and not everyone is happy about it.
The actress, 60, met with family members of deployed servicemen and women at Joint Base Andrews in Prince George’s County, Md., as part of an American Red Cross program for military families. Wearing a turtleneck sweater embroidered with an American flag, she was photographed helping assemble care packages to send overseas.

Hines’ appearance alongside fellow political wives isn’t surprising given that she’s married to US Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. However, her Hollywood friends are reportedly dismayed and stunned by the actress’ transformation from liberal to conservative “MAGA” views.
The Daily Mail reported in October that one of Hines’ longtime friends said they don’t talk politics with her because it “just goes south.”
“It’s like she’s gone MAGA, or at least MAHA, which is just so…beyond comprehension to me,” they told the outlet.
“It’s so hard to make sense in my head because she was so liberal before,” another source shared. “And now, she’s married to a member of the Trump administration and she’s literally defending his ridiculous s–t on ‘The View.’”
The source brought up Hines’ tense moment on “The View” in October, when she responded to co-host Sunny Hostin ripping Kennedy as “the least qualified Department of Health and Human Services head that we’ve had in history.”
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” alum shot back, “He has spent his career studying toxins, studying people’s health, fighting for one guy who was using Roundup for his job.”
Hines was referencing her husband’s former job as an attorney. Kennedy represented a school groundskeeper who claimed his use of Roundup weed killer resulted in a diagnosis of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The client was ultimately awarded $289 million in the case in 2018.
Hines recently talked to Page Six about her tougher times in the spotlight, including her husband’s headline-making sexting scandal with journalist Olivia Nuzzi.
“I went through a lot of darkness and not only because of politics,” Hines said. “I lost my nephew in the last year and it was heartbreaking. And to deal with that loss while this other chaos was going on, there were dark times.”
She added, “But I am definitely in a new chapter that I could never have predicted I would be in.”
She also reflected on why she has stood by her husband of 11 years.
“There’s extremes on both sides to Bobby — and being his wife — because there are a lot of people who absolutely love and support him. And then there are people who, no matter what he accomplishes, are still going to criticize him,” Hines said, noting that she “thought it was important” for her to say, “This is why I love him,” in her “Unscripted” memoir.
“This is who he is as a person and this is who we are to each other,” she continued. “If I’m just telling the truth about what I’ve been through ,,, it makes me feel better because they’re my own words and you can’t misconstrue them.”
