Disgraced former Prince Andrew stripped of final royal titles

He’s a commoner. 

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, has been stripped of his last royal titles, according to The Daily Mail. 

King Charles stripped his brother, formerly Prince Andrew, of his royal titles on Oct. 30. 

Andrew’s coat of arms has already been removed from St George’s Chapel, Windsor, the location where his mother, Queen Elizabeth, is buried.

However, he had a final outstanding title – a membership of the Order of the Garter. On Monday, that was formally cancelled. 

Per The Gazette, the official order from the palace read, “THE KING has directed that the appointment of Andrew Albert Christian Edward MOUNTBATTEN-WINDSOR to be a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, dated 23 April 2006, shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order.”

The statement added, “THE KING has directed that the appointment of Andrew Albert Christian Edward MOUNTBATTEN-WINDSOR to be a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order, dated 19 February 2011, shall be cancelled and annulled and that his name shall be erased from the Register of the said Order.”

The Order of the Garter is the oldest British Order of Chivalry, originally established in 1348 by King Edward III. 

On Oct. 30th, Buckingham Palace released a statement announcing the bombshell news. 

“His Majesty has today initiated a formal process to remove the Style, Titles and Honours of Prince Andrew,” the statement began. “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. His lease on Royal Lodge has, to date, provided him with legal protection to continue in residence.” 

The former Duke of York was ordered to “surrender” his lease on the Royal Lodge and “move to alternative private accommodation.” 

“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him,” the statement continued.

The palace didn’t name former sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, but it was released amid fresh pressure on the royals and fresh allegations that Andrew kept ties with the late convicted pedophile and sex offender years after Andrew claimed to have cut ties with Epstein.

Andrew was first forced to step back from royal duties in 2019 after his infamous BBC’s “Newsnight” interview, in which he addressed his alleged ties to Epstein and claimed that he had severed ties with him in December 2010. 

In January earlier this year, leaked emails from February 2011 appeared to contradict Andrew’s claim. In leaked emails, Andrew allegedly told the pedophile: “We’ll play some more soon!!!!”

Virginia Giuffre, who died by suicide at 41 in April, posthumously published a memoir that came out on Oct. 21, containing further allegations that she was forced to have sex with Andrew when she was a teenager. The former royal has repeatedly denied the allegations.

Referring to King Charles and Queen Camilla, the statement from the palace concluded, “Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.” 

Andrew will move into a property on the Sandringham Estate, privately funded by King Charles. 

However, his eviction from his Royal Lodge and into that housing won’t happen until after the New Year, per the Daily Mail. 

 Andrew shares daughters Princess Beatrice, 37, and Princess Eugenie, 35 with Sarah Ferguson, 66, who he was married to from 1986 to 1996. The former couple remained friendly and even lived together after their divorce at Royal Lodge. 

Ferguson will also lose her “Duchess of York” title.

She “will always stand by Andrew,” sources told Page Six.

Beatrice and Eugenie will reportedly keep their titles.
