Baby missing after pregnant 22-year-old found dead in Mich. woods

A pregnant woman who went missing days before she was due to give birth was found dead in northern Michigan woods — and authorities have arrested her sister and fiancé as they frantically search for the newborn.

Rebecca Park, 22, was last seen near a relative’s home on Nov. 3, when she was 38 weeks pregnant, according to the Wexford County Sheriff’s Office. Her body was recovered in the Manistee National Forest on Nov. 25, though it took a few extra days for an autopsy to confirm her identity, UpNorthLive reported.

The same night Park’s body was found, authorities arrested her fiancé, 43-year-old Richard Lee Falor. Her sister, 21-year-old Kimberly Park, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Nov. 26, the outlet reported.

While details from the autopsy were scant and an official cause of death hasn’t been announced, Park was not pregnant when she was found, according to reports.

When she first disappeared, Falor told 9and10 News that they went to the hospital on Nov. 2 because they thought she might’ve been in labor. At the time, he said she was 1 centimeter dilated and officially due to give birth on Nov. 18.

Falor told the outlet that Park was picked up in a black sedan with tinted windows while she was at her biological mother’s house the day she went missing.

Park didn’t share any details about where she was going or who would be coming to get her, UpNorthLive reported.

She had also received roughly $2,000 from a family inheritance that day, and her phone was found ditched near the home, which authorities told the outlet likely helped her avoid electronic tracking.

Kimberly Park is being held on a $750,000 bond at the Wexford County Jail, while Ford is being held on a steep $1 million bond at the same facility.

Both were declared a flight risk, and a judge also called Falor a threat to the community during his arraignment, according to the outlet.

Falor, described as a habitual offender with three previous attempted or completed felonies, was charged with two counts of delivering methamphetamine and could be jailed for life.

Kimberly Park was charged with tampering with evidence in a criminal case, lying to a police officer during a violent crime investigation and filing a false report of a felony.
