Man shot dead by NYPD in Manhattan after allegedly threatening New Yorkers with gun: sources
Police shot and killed an allegedly armed man in a confrontation on the Upper East Side Thursday night, according to law enforcement sources and authorities.
Cops received a 911 call just after 7 p.m. about a man who was spotted waving a gun at people near East 107th Street and Madison Avenue in Manhattan, according to sources and the NYPD.

Less than 20 minutes later, cops discovered the reported gun-touting assailant a few blocks down by East 96th Street, police said.
The man, who matched the description provided by 911 callers, allegedly fired a round at the officers, according to sources.
The cops discharged their guns and returned fire, striking him once in the chest and once in the hip in a confrontation, according to sources and police.
The unidentified man was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, authorities added.
He was later pronounced dead, sources said.
A firearm was recovered on the scene, according to police.
