Alex Rodriguez’s marriage allegedly ended over a Material Girl — and he’s finally talking about it.

The retired MLB player and his ex-wife, Cynthia Scurtis, reflected on the multiple affairs leading to their 2008 divorce, including his reported dalliance with Madonna, during HBO’s latest “Alex vs ARod” episode.

While the former couple did not refer to Madonna by name, a throwback article from The Post was featured as they spoke, along with the headline: “A-Rod and Madonna Squeeze Play.”

The story was published in July 2008 when Rodriguez, 50, and the “Hung Up” singer, 67, sparked romance rumors, less than three months after the athlete welcomed his second child, daughter Ella.

“At that point, we got divorced,” Scurtis recalled on Thursday’s episode.

Scurtis, who cited “extramarital affairs” in her 2008 divorce filing, noted in the docuseries that there had been a “similar scenario” when their eldest daughter, Natasha, was born in 2004.

“He seemed to be extremely apologetic and not proud of his actions,” Scurtis noted of Rodriguez’s first bout of infidelity — being spotted at a Toronto strip club with a mystery woman.

“I knew that he had his own demons, and I was hoping he would get help. I was hoping that it could end differently than it did,” Cynthia told viewers.

“He was really upset, so that affected me. But at the same time, I think I felt a sense of freedom.”

Rodriguez, for his part, admitted that he “could have been more loyal” while married to Scurtis.

Although the New York Yankees legend did not confirm nor deny the cheating, he said, “In hindsight, I could have been a better husband. I could have been more present. … I could have been more sympathetic, empathetic, all of it. You name it.”

At the time, he used baseball as an “escape” — and even “hit a home run” against the Red Sox the day Scurtis filed for divorce.

Reps for Rodriguez and Madonna did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

The ex-shortstop previously denied being unfaithful with Madonna, telling People, “We’re friends. That’s it.”

The Grammy winner, who was married to Guy Ritchie when she and Rodriguez made headlines, did the same.

“I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez,” she wrote in a statement to the same outlet. “I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage.”

Rodriguez’s HBO show began streaming last week, with the premiere also digging into his and Scurtis’ relationship’s demise.

During the Nov. 6 episode, Scurtis said her ex-husband has a “big heart” but spent his life so “enriched in baseball” that he was “stunted when it came to the natural development of a person.”
