Odds, picks, best bet for Wednesday night ‘MACtion’
After missing out in 2024, Toledo was expected to roll to the MAC Championship Game this season.
The Rockets were a +250 favorite to win the conference before Week 1, and things only looked more promising after strong performances in the non-conference portion of their schedule.

But things changed after the Rockets got upset by Western Michigan in their MAC opener, and a loss to Bowling Green a couple of weeks later seemed to end all hopes for Toledo.
Not so fast.
Sitting at 3-2 with three games left, including Wednesday night at Miami, Toledo can earn a trip to Ford Field in December by running the table and getting a little bit of help.
Toledo vs. Miami (Ohio) odds, prediction
Miami fell victim to Western Michigan last week and will need to avoid defeat against the Rockets if it wants to play for a MAC Championship for the third straight year.
That will be easier said than done.
Sometimes the odds tell a big part of the story, and that is the case for this encounter. Despite an inferior record, Toledo is a 3.5-point road favorite over Miami on Wednesday night.

Furthermore, the tale of the tape suggests that the spread may be too narrow.
Toledo’s win-loss record looks ordinary on paper, especially for a team with high preseason expectations, but the Rockets boast one of the best statistical profiles in the Group of 5.

According to SP+, Toledo grades out as the 53rd-best team in the country, putting it on par with programs like UCF, San Diego State and Kentucky.
The Rockets’ defense is what’s driving that success, ranking 31st in FBS, per SP+.
This is a tricky spot for Toledo, playing on the road in a must-win game, but the Rockets are clearly the better side and should be a bigger favorite in this tilt.
The Play: Toledo -3.5 (-110, FanDuel)
