Brett Favre rips Bad Bunny as Super Bowl 2026 halftime choice
Brett Favre’s music playlist likely doesn’t include any Bad Bunny songs.
During Monday’s installment of his “4th & Favre” podcast, the Pro Football Hall of Famer explained why he wouldn’t pick the Grammy-winning Puerto Rican singer to headline the Super Bowl halftime show in February — after the NFL took heat from many, including President Donald Trump, for the decision.

“I’d pick someone who — maybe Jason Aldean… someone who loves this country and that everyone could relate to,” Favre said when David Kano asked who he would choose if he were the commissioner of the NFL. “I think Jason Aldean right now is as big a patriot and has a great voice.”

The former three-time NFL MVP, who’s a supporter of Trump, did not explain further.
“I like George Strait, that’s old school,” he said of the 73-year-old country singer. “There are a lot of choices out there.
“I remember when Whitney Houston sang the National Anthem [before Super Bowl XXV in January of 1991] and I was blown away. If you didn’t have tears in your eyes watching and listening to that, something’s wrong with you.
“I envision a national anthem and a halftime show, they’re two different things, that it really grabs you. Those are just two people off the top of my head.”

Favre admitted he didn’t know Kano was going to ask him about the halftime show.
Favre supported Trump during his 2024 re-election campaign and spoke at one of his rallies in Green Bay before the election.
Many have criticized the NFL’s decision to have Bad Bunny as the halftime headliner in Santa Clara, partly due to his opposition of Trump and his policies.

The 31-year-old singer, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, did a 31-day residency in Puerto Rico and avoided stops in the mainland U.S. amid concerns about the mass deportation of Latinos.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell addressed the controversy last month at the annual Fall League Meeting.
“It’s carefully thought through,” Goodell said. “I’m not sure we’ve ever selected an artist where we didn’t have some blowback or criticism. It’s pretty hard to do when you have literally hundreds of millions of people that are watching.”
Bad Bunny, who performs in Spanish, is expected to do so at the Super Bowl.
Roc Nation, the entertainment company founded by Jay-Z, has produced the Super Bowl halftime show since the 2019 season and has a hand in choosing the performers.
