Travis Kelce’s ex insisted on Saturday’s “Pre-Game” podcast episode that she only wanted to “celebrate” Toni Braxton by wearing the singer’s “He Wasn’t Man Enough” music video look for last month’s holiday.
“Halloween is an opportunity for me not to be myself and to dress up as someone that I admire, someone that I’ve been a fan of, someone that I think is chef’s kiss,” Nicole, 34, told listeners.
“You guys don’t want celebrities … to dress up as celebrities, but I’m confused because what am I supposed to do?” she asked. “A doctor? Superwoman?”
Nicole hit back at those “try[ing] to project their own narratives” about the outfit, saying, “I’m not in the business of tearing other women down. I am in the business of celebrating them.”
She added, “I’m trying to step it up every year. Every year I’m trying to raise the bar. I’m trying to be the Heidi Klum of Halloween but on the performance side.”
Nicole advised her fans to watch Braxton’s music video because people “might be surprised by the ending,” during which the Grammy winner and her character’s cheating ex-husband’s new wife team up to expose him.
“Clock that,” she said. “Clock that, babe.”
Nicole initially discussed the motivation behind her costume on the last podcast installment.
She claimed the ensemble was inspired by someone named Taylor — not the pop star, but Nicole’s childhood best friend.
“I specifically remember driving home from private school in my uniform in the back of a paddy wagon with Taylor, and her mom was playing this song,” she said during the Oct. 31 “Pre-Game” episode.
Nicole has since deactivated her X account after alleged problematic posts resurfaced, which she has yet to comment on.
Before dating Kelce on and off from 2017 to 2022, she dissed another A-list singer with a shady Halloween costume.
Nicole admitted last year to once dressing up as Teyana Taylor, the then-wife of Nicole’s ex Iman Shumpert, in a cropped gray tank, a thong and knee pads.
“I was dating a guy. He dumped me through a text message … for this singer/actress who was famous at the time,” she explained on Angel Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel” podcast — a clue her fans quickly used to identify Taylor.
Nicole called her subsequent Halloween costume the “craziest” thing she has ever done during the October 2024 interview.
Taylor, 34, slammed the diss after Nicole’s “ill and petty” reveal, writing in a since-deleted Instagram comment, “Her choice of words were very distasteful and uncalled for. She knew exactly what she was doing.”
