Why influencer Peighton Tubre broke silence on LSU cheating allegations
Influencer Peighton Tubre said she doesn’t blame LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier for unfollowing her on Instagram following false allegations that they had an affair.
Tubre, a Louisiana native and diehard Tigers fan, explained to The Daily Mail that she publicly addressed AI-generated reports — which claimed she had entered a hotel room with Nussmeier before one of his games — to clear both of their names earlier this month.

“Garrett used to follow me, actually, on Instagram, and then after that happened, he unfollowed me,” Tubre said of Nussmeier, who proposed to his girlfriend, Ella Springfield, in July.
“I don’t want him to think that I was behind any of this, and so I don’t blame him at all for unfollowing me. I think he did the right thing. He’s engaged. I just wanted to, you know, not only clear my name, but to clear his.”
Nussmeier, who is the son of former NFL quarterback Doug Nussmeier, and Springfield, an LSU alum, announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post in July.
Nussmeier and Springfield have yet to publicly address the situation.
Tubre responded to the affair allegations in an Instagram video posted on Nov. 5.
“I’d like to address some of the fake news that has been circulating about me on the internet,” Tubre said. “Recently, there was an article posted on Facebook saying that I was having an affair with Garrett Nussmeier and that we were seen entering a hotel room together the night before one of his games
“When I first saw this post on Facebook it had 30 likes and I was like ‘You know what, I am not going to be bring attention to this, this is stupid.’ I was hoping it was going to go away and no one would see it.
“Spoiler alert, everyone saw it. Everyone has seen it. People are blowing up my phone people are reaching out to my family members which is really weird.”
Tubre added in the comments, “They claim to be a LSU fanpage… but posting THIS during bama week is opp behavior 🤦🏼♀️.”
The Tigers fell to the Crimson Tide, 20-9, on Nov. 8.
Tubre also said someone sent her another article that claimed “Garrett sent me unsolicited photos that made me uncomfortable and I posted the screenshots on social media.”
Tubre added, “If you follow me, you know that I didn’t post anything like that,.
“It’s just fake. It’s all fake.”
