Sean McDermott reveals if he’d bring Brian Daboll back to Bills
After Brian Daboll was fired as Giants head coach, it was only a matter of time before someone asked Sean McDermott if he had any interest in a reunion with his former offensive coordinator.
The Bills head coach seemed to pour cold water all over that idea “at this point” when he spoke with reporters on Monday.

“I understand why you’re asking that,” McDermott said. “Brian’s a great coach. Unfortunate to see that happen to him, and at this point, that’s not under any type of consideration.”

Before his hiring by the Giants, Daboll was Bills offensive coordinator from 2018-21, working with Josh Allen through the first four seasons of the star quarterback’s career.
Allen and Daboll shared a friendly reunion earlier this year when the Giants went to Western New York for a preseason game against the Bills.
The Bills have been in a bit of a funk over the past five games, going 2-3, including a surprising loss to the Dolphins over the weekend.
Despite that, McDermott committed to finishing out the season with Joe Brady as his offensive coordinator and called him a “good coach.”

“I’m fully confident in our offensive staff and Joe as our leader that we will make the adjustments that we need to make and move us forward,” he said.
The Bills are 6-3 on the season and second in the AFC East, with the Dolphins and Jets well behind them in the division.

The Giants fired Daboll on Monday, after dropping their fourth straight game, a 24-20 loss to the Bears in Chicago.
“We spoke this morning about the direction of our franchise on the field, and we have decided that, at this time, it is in our best interest to make a change at the head coaching position,” president John Mara and chairman Steve Tisch said in a joint statement.
Daboll went 20-40-1 during his tenure with the Giants and was 11-33 since the beginning of the 2023 season.
Joe Schoen will stay in place as Giants general manager and he will hire the next head coach.
