Julia Haart’s trophy NYC penthouse asks $65M

A trophy Tribeca penthouse that played a starring role in Julia Haart’s reality show, “My Unorthodox Life,” is back on the market asking a hefty $65 million.
Off camera, the stunning skypad at 70 Vestry St. was at the heart of a fierce battle between Haart and her now-ex-husband, Italian businessman Silvio Scaglia, who bought the unit via an LLC for $56 million in 2018, after signing a contract to buy it in pre-construction.

“Julia is now fully in control of the penthouse,” a source said.
And while the show is over, Haart is still in business. The former La Perla creative director has her own shapewear line, Body By Julia.
She also made the penthouse her own — transforming Scaglia’s former office into a cozy den decked out with Gucci chairs, Haas Brothers furnishings and a 102-inch screen, according to Forbes. Art inside the aerie includes a Mel Bochner painting titled “Ha Ha Ha.” There’s also a cutlery bouquet by artist Anne Carrington, Forbes noted.
Haart’s neighbors includes Formula 1 champ Lewis Hamilton, who bought another penthouse in the building for $40.7 million in 2019. During their marriage, Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen had also purchased a unit in the building that they sold during the pandemic; Brady still owns a pied-à-terre in the building, sources said.
Haart’s swanky, 13-room spread had also been offered as a $125,000-a-month rental. But it never rented; Haart decided to stay.
“Julia has been living there and she’s still there,” a source told Gimme Shelter.
While technically a duplex, the massive 7,808-square-foot home — the largest penthouse in the building — features 3,687 square feet of outdoor space over three levels, including a private roof terrace with a full outdoor kitchen.
Inside, there are six bedrooms, six baths, two powder rooms, two chef’s kitchens and a private internal elevator.
Design details include lots of bold color, including red walls, and floor-to-ceiling windows showcasing Hudson River and city skyline views.
Haart also designed her own closet system that, she told Forbes, she invented with an Italian company. “It’s like a dry cleaner or like what you see in “Clueless,” but totally different — my own invention. As far as I know, it’s the only one of its kind on the planet.”
The penthouse opens from an elevator landing to a foyer that leads to a corner great room with river views. There’s also a chef’s kitchen with floor-to-ceiling custom cabinetry, a marble breakfast bar and access to a terrace for al-fresco dining — along with a study and a home office.
A main bedroom suite comes with a dressing room and a windowed ensuite bath; four other bedrooms are on this floor.
Upstairs, there’s a 670-square-foot great room with high ceilings and a dramatic gas ceramic fireplace designed by Brooklyn artist Peter Lane. The floor also features an additional chef’s kitchen — plus a library with custom inlay bookshelves, a solarium and a study. Those all open to another terrace.
Two parking units and a storage unit are also included in the sale.
Designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects, the building was developed by Related Companies. It comes with a gated porte-cochère, a courtyard, a double-height lobby and amenities that include a gym, an 82-foot pool and a children’s pool.
The listing broker is Adam Modlin of the Modlin Group, who declined to comment.
