A garbage-time touchdown saved Rodgers’ stat line, but he still finished with an ugly 161 yards and one touchdown throw with two interceptions and a passer rating of 50.6.
Rodgers went 16-of-31 passing, and there was a point in the fourth quarter when his passing rating was 19.5 and his passing yards were still below 100.
He came dangerously close to eclipsing his previous career-worst passing rating of 34.3, which he had set against the Bills in 2014.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was limited in his comments about Rodgers’ performance, but seemed to send a message at the same time.
“How would you?” he responded to a reporter’s question asking to assess the play of the 41-year-old QB.
He moved on to the next question from there.

Rodgers had been sacked in the first quarter in the end zone, which resulted in the Chargers getting their first points of the game as Khalil Mack brought the ageing quarterback to the ground.
His first-half pick on an attempted pass to DK Metcalf led to the Chagrers’ first touchdown of the night.
By the time the Steelers were headed into the locker room at halftime, Rodgers was 7-of-14 for 64 yards.
The Steelers dropped to 5-4 with the loss. They host the division rival Bengals (3-6) next week.
