Cowboys’ Juanyeh Thomas fuming after fans’ DMs over Marshawn Kneeland death

The Cowboys have received an outpouring of support following the death of 24-year-old defensive end Marshawn Kneeland this week, but not all of it has been welcome.

Safety Juanyeh Thomas took to X to vent about the messages he’s gotten in the days since Kneeland died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

“Stay outta my DM with the ‘this if this doesn’t spark Yalls defense’”’… I could care less about that s–t right now…” the third-year Cowboy wrote on X on Friday morning. “I just lost a brother , that I bled , sweated and cried tears with… Yall so caught up in this sports stuff , that y’all Mfs forget we just like y’all… But I expect that from y’all…..”

Emotions continue to ride high in Dallas and across the NFL after Kneeland refused to pull over for a traffic stop, leading to a police chase, authorities said. The troopers eventually said they lost sight of the car and later found it abandoned following a crash. Kneeland was found dead in a nearby portable toilet.

Thomas later posted a pair of photos of himself lined up next to Kneeland on the field.

He spent one full season with Kneeland after the latter was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round (56th overall) in 2024 out of Western Michigan.

The Cowboys, 3-5 this season, head into a bye week that became all the more necessary

“It’s been a very tough day … it started early finding out the news,” a visibly emotional quarterback Dak Prescott told CBS News Texas on Thursday. “Tragic loss. I hurt. Heavy, heavy heart today. I hurt for Marshawn. I hurt for his family. I hurt for his girlfriend [Catalina]. I hurt for every single one of my teammates.

“This is a pain that you don’t wish upon anybody. You wish none of us had to go through this. You wish Marshawn didn’t have to go through what he went through. And [I’m] just thankful for each moment we have in this life and don’t take it for granted — and hug and love on those that you do.”

The Cowboys will take the field again on Nov. 17 in a “Monday Night Football” matchup against the Raiders.
