George Santos is fleeing New York City after socialist Zohran Mamdani’s victory in the mayoral election

Disgraced former New York congressman George Santos dramatically announced he will flee the Big Apple after socialist Zohran Mamdani won the mayoral election.

“Good luck, New York. It was nice knowing you,” the pardoned Republican said in a video he posted on X hours after the Democratic socialist’s win was confirmed.

“After 37 years, I’m out,” he said. “I’d rather the evil I know than the evil I don’t want to know.”
Santos, who was jailed, then pardoned, for scamming donors and identity theft, had teased the move even before fellow Queens resident Mamdani won.

He’d previously said that “sadly it seems that my family and I will be departing the city I’ve called home my entire life.”

“NYC will become a very dangerous place to live in if we elect mayor Mamdani and that is a risk I am unwilling to take now that I want to start growing my family,” he wrote on Oct. 22 in a post now seen nearly 13 million times.

Santos said the election came down to simple math, again blaming Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa for ignoring the numbers and refusing to drop out, ruining ex-New York governor Andrew Cuomo’s chances of defeating Mamdani.

“That’s just a bad example of delusion, greed, self-aggrandizing, and most importantly, the consultant class, when they put all of that first instead of the people,” Santos said of Sliwa.

“Cuomo was by far a flawed candidate, terrible human being, but much better than what we just landed ourselves with. I rather the evil I know than the evil I don’t want to know,” he said.

The serial liar said Sliwa “never” could have won the race.

“Curtis Sliwa couldn’t see what we all saw months ago and begged him to consider to put himself aside and put the city first,” he added.

Mamdani secured 50.4% of the vote, followed by Cuomo, who ran as an independent, at 41.6%.

Sliwa received just 7.1% of New Yorker’s votes.
