Eric Trump calls Zohran Mamdani ‘crazy,’ says ‘we cannot allow’ socialism to spread countrywide at Turning Point USA event

First son Eric Trump warned against a New York City run by “crazy” Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani and insisted that conservatives “cannot allow” his brand of politics to spread across the country at a Turning Point USA event Wednesday.

Eric and his wife, Lara Trump, shared the stage with conservative media personality Benny Johnson at Auburn University before a packed audience Wednesday evening.

While the talk was sprinkled with praise for the nonprofit’s slain founder, Charlie Kirk, the wave of Democratic wins in elections across the country the night before loomed large over the discussion.

Eric and Lara repeatedly condemned “the left,” which they lambasted as Godless and “evil” — and branded Kirk’s alleged assassin Tyler Robinson as the real “fascist.”

Mamdani didn’t come up by name until someone in the audience asked for the couple’s reaction to his easy victory over former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

Eric didn’t hesitate to condemn the socialist’s fantastical promises to New Yorkers — which he dryly joked was a “brilliant” tactic to win over the residents in one of the most powerful and influential hubs in the world.

“This is going to destroy a great American city, and we cannot allow this to spread across this country,” Eric said to raucous applause.

Lara warned that having Mamdani as the “new face of the Democrat party” will not end the way even his supporters want.

“We can never allow this to happen ever again in the United States,” she said.

She also looked beyond the immediate fallout from Election Day and reminded the audience of young college-aged conservatives that the Republican party needs to “start doing better with speaking to everyone out there” if they want to stand a chance during the midterm elections in 2026.

“We’re also a year out from midterms. And I want to say this right now, we cannot leave anything to chance. If you take nothing away from yesterday, these elections in blue areas in New York City, in Virginia and in New Jersey, the fight is not over, and it takes all of us in here to do that,” she said.

Before the Trumps graced the stage, Johnson also weighed in on the “Communists who are winning elections in this country.”

“They are anti-life,” Johnson said flatly, before insisting that Communists inherently cannot value what they “don’t believe in.”

“There is a literal Communist elected as New York City mayor,” he added.

When the trio, flanked by an empty chair for Kirk onstage, weren’t tearing Mamdani a new one, Eric tried to provide some levity and phoned his father, President Donald Trump.

Trump kept his message to his supporters short and sweet as he thanked the entire state of Alabama for helping him secure his historic victory for his second term exactly one year ago.

“We love [Alabama], and I just want to pay my respects to Charlie and Erika. I’ve spoken to her often, she’s just a spectacular person, and she’s just gonna start where Charlie left off,” the president said.

“I love you all, as president of the United States, I love you all, and we’re doing great,” he added before hanging up.

The president had already offered his opinion on Mamdani, whom he also branded a “little Communist,” well before the 34-year-old’s triumph Tuesday night. He stopped short of mentioning the Big Apple race directly when reflecting on the widespread Republican losses.

Mamdani, for his part, didn’t shy away from challenging the president during his Election Night victory speech.

“Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: Turn the volume up,” Mamdani said.

“If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.”
