‘The View’ host Joy Behar suggests Marjorie Taylor Greene ‘should become a Democrat’

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s impassioned criticism of the economy on ABC’s “The View” prompted a jarring suggestion from co-host Joy Behar — maybe the MAGA diehard “should become a Democrat.”

The Georgia congresswoman, a longtime Trump ally, has been making the rounds on left-leaning channels as she sides with Dems on their calls to extend Obamacare tax credits and end the government shutdown.

During Tuesday’s show, which coincided with Election Day, Greene said she was “unapologetically America first” when it comes to serving her constituents.

Behar jumped in: “Maybe you should become a Democrat, Marjorie.”

“I’m not a Democrat,” Greene replied, though her response was nearly drowned out by the audience’s applause. “You want to know something, I say this: I think both parties have failed.”

Greene hit back at claims that she has flip-flopped during the government shutdown, which is now the longest in history at 36 days.

“Everybody is like, ‘Marjorie Taylor Greene has changed.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh no, nothing has changed about me!” she said.

“I am staying absolutely, 100% true to the people that voted for me and true to my district.”

Behar pushed back, questioning how Greene could still support Trump because he “goes against everything you just said.”

Greene replied that she “fought” for Trump to win and is “very thankful for the secure border.”

Earlier in the show, co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked Greene about MAGA voters who supported Trump because they wanted low grocery prices – and are now frustrated that tariffs appear to be hurting soybean and cattle farmers while the shutdown has brought about food stamp cuts.

“I am so America first,” Greene said. “That’s my district and that’s what people want. They are so tired of their hard-earned tax dollars being sent overseas to foreign wars and foreign aid and foreign causes while life in America just becomes more and more unaffordable.”

Last week, Goldberg shocked the audience when she announced Greene would be making an appearance. “The View” isn’t usually seen as friendly territory for GOPers.

But the hosts of the ABC talk show – including Goldberg, Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Ana Navarro – showered the congresswoman with praise during the show last month.

Goldberg lauded Greene as “a very surprising voice of reason.”

“What the hell is going on?” she joked.

Behar jumped in, saying the congresswoman “also has a couple of kids who need – the insurance premiums are going up, so it’s very personal to her. You know, I’ll take it.”

In a social media post last month, Greene clarified she is “not a fan” of Obamacare, adding that she was not in Congress when the 44th president’s signature legislation took effect in 2010.

“But I’m going to go against everyone on this issue because when the tax credits expire this year my own adult children’s insurance premiums for 2026 are going to DOUBLE, along with all the wonderful families and hard-working people in my district,” she wrote.

Recent weeks have seen her step outside her usual turf, appearing on CNN’s “The Situation Room” in October and on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher returns” last week.
