The team did not release financial details for the new deal, but The Post’s Joel Sherman confirmed the extension is worth $25 million.
Perez’s deal includes a $7 million signing bonus and deferred money, according to MLB.com.
“Salvy is a Royals legend and one of the most important players this franchise has ever had,” Royals general manager J.J. Picollo said in a statement Tuesday. “We had the option for next year, but everyone knew we wanted to make sure his legacy with us continued longer than that. We appreciate Salvy’s commitment to the Royals, and we’re just as excited as our fans.”
Perez’s 2026 club option had been worth $13.5 million, which included a $2 million buyout.

The 35-year-old has spent his entire 15-year MLB career with the Royals and was made captain in 2023.
Perez has been a nine-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner during the course of his career.
He helped the Royals win the World Series in 2015, defeating the Mets in five games, and Perez was named World Series MVP that year.
Perez has hit .264/.301/.457 with 1,016 RBIs during his time in the major leagues.
The Royals catcher is second all-time in franchise history in home runs (303), second in RBIs (1,106), third in extra-base hits (634), sixth in hits (1,712) and seventh in games (1,707).
He appeared in 155 games during the 2025 season and hit 30 home runs – the ninth consecutive full season with at least 20 homers — while posting a batting average of .284.
The Royals are coming off a 2025 season in which they finished 82-80 following a year they made a surprise appearance in the postseason.
