He worked with US forces against the the Taliban

Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents recently detained Ali Faqirzada after a hearing in Long Island; while he did indeed enter the country illegally to file his asylum claim, the honorable course is to release him, so the courts can rapidly resolve his application.

Unlike the overwhelming major of Biden-era “asylum seekers,” Faqirzada is the real deal.

He fled Afghanistan after the Taliban took over, credibly fearing for his life since he worked for a government agency that issued licenses to US companies doing work there; seven others in his family have won asylum; he turned himself into the Border Patrol after crossing, and has committed no other crime since.

He resettled in Ulster County, working as a security guard and recently enrolling at Bard College.

Our nation owes a moral debt to Afghans who took risks in defying the Taliban and working with Americans before the Biden bugout; the special immigration program for Afghan allies that the Biden team left behind is a complete mess.

The Trump Department of Homeland Security is stuck handling a ton of problems the last administration created, but that’s no excuse for treating an honest man like a Tren de Aragua gangbanger.

Do the right thing, the American thing: Let Ali pursue his case, rather than sending him back home to be killed.
