Cardinals caught mocking Cowboys’ Javonte Williams on hot mic

One Cardinals player didn’t hesitate to troll Cowboys running back Javonte Williams after his costly fumble late in Dallas’ “Monday Night Football” loss.

Trailing by 10 and at the Arizona 37-yard line with under five minutes remaining, Dak Prescott tossed a pass to Williams, and as he neared the sideline and tried to gain extra yards, linebacker Cody Simon forced the turnover and Akeem Davis-Gaither collected it for the Cardinals.

And as Arizona players celebrated getting possession back and keeping their two-score lead in their eventual 27-17 win, one appeared to shout, “Javonte so ass” — with the comment picked up by an ESPN hot mic.

It marked the second fumble of the season for Williams, who had otherwise thrived during his first campaign in Dallas after the former second-round pick spent the first four years of his career with the Broncos.

Williams rushed for 83 yards Monday and has collected the fourth-most rushing yards in the league (716) with nine total touchdowns through nine weeks.

Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer said he asked about whether forward progress should’ve been called before Williams fumbled, but “they said you cannot challenge forward progress,” he told reporters.

So the Cardinals took over and though they eventually turned it over on downs, Prescott — who finished 24-of-39 for 250 yards — threw an interception on the Cowboys’ final drive to seal the game.

Williams, Prescott and Dallas (3-5-1) have lost three of their last four games entering their bye week, but owner Jerry Jones has attempted to improve their roster ahead of the NFL’s trading deadline Tuesday.

He acquired Bengals linebacker Logan Wilson in exchange for a seventh-round pick, though after Jones hinted earlier Monday that he had a trade in place, ESPN analyst Troy Aikman joked on the broadcast that “he may want to cancel that trade.”

“I don’t think one player from what I’ve seen tonight is going to make a difference for this group,” Aikman said of his former team.

The Cardinals improved to 3-5 on the season even without Kyler Murray at quarterback, though they still sit three games behind the Cardinals in the NFC West entering their game in Seattle on Sunday.
