“You either accept your path completely and realize that even the pain and the slip-ups and the mistakes are all part of the journey, and that there’s truth and growth, wisdom and deeper empathy and connection in all that,” he told Esquire UK in an interview published Saturday.
“It’s about incorporating your life into something that you can give to other people so that they can have a cathartic response to their lives,” he continued. “If you’ve never been through anything, what do you really have to offer? If I were to change anything I’d change everything, and just make my life happy and silly and like, whatever, and then I wouldn’t be an artist anymore. And that would suck.”
The actor also shared that in the future, his focus is to tell rich and complex stories, but noted he had personal goals as well.
“Then of course there’s personal stuff that I want to do, and people that I want to love, and be good to and nurture, things like that,” he said.
Allen, 40, filed for divorce from Harbour in September after four years of marriage. On her new album, “West End Girl,” she implied the actor is a “sex addict” who broke the rules of their open marriage.
She accused him of having a “double life” in “P–sy Palace,” reflecting on the time she discovered a stash of adult toys, lube and “hundreds” of condoms.
In “Tennis,” she described confronting her husband over texts with a woman named Madeline, wanting to know whether “it was just sex, or is there emotion?”
The woman who allegedly had an affair with Harbour was later revealed to be Natalie Tippett, a costume designer who worked with him on the 2021 Netflix film, “We Have a Ghost,” which was shot in New Orleans.
Tippet spoke to the Daily Mail, confirming she’s heard Allen’s new music.
“But I have a family and things to protect. I have a 2-and-a-half-year-old daughter, and I understand this is going on,” the single mom said.
“It’s a little bit scary for me,” she added.
Allen took another savage dig at her estranged husband on Halloween, dressing as Madeline from the beloved children’s book series.
