Perv teacher raised money online so underage student could move in — now he has massive sentence

An Arizona teacher will spend nearly two centuries in prison for sex with multiple teen students — including one he lived with after flagrantly raising funds to move the girl out of her parents’ house.

Cory Kapahulehua, 44, was sentenced to 187 years behind bars in late October after being convicted of having sex with two girls he taught at the Arizona Agribusiness and Equine Center public charter school in Mesa.

The girls were just 14 and 17 years old when he started having sex with them, with the assaults taking place on campus, in hotels, at his apartment and even in parking garages near campus, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office said.

And the older student was still 17 when he launched the online fundraiser to help pay moving costs to take her from her parents’ house and into his.

They eventually moved in together when she was 18.

Kapahulehua’s abuse of both girls started in August 2021 when he met them while teaching at the school, officials said.

It continued until allegations against him came to light in January 2022 and the school fired him, AZ family reported.

But it continued beyond then, according to prosecutors, until both girls game forward and he was arrested in January 2023.

“This defendant used his position as a teacher to groom these students and take advantage of their trust,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said in a statement.

“I’m proud of these girls for having the courage to come forward and stop him from victimizing any children ever again.”

Kapahulehua, an Army veteran, was convicted of 17 child sex abuse and rape charges.
