Jaylen Waddle’s future becomes hot topic after Dolphins GM’s ouster
As Chris Grier is getting the boot out of Miami, it’s a wonder who might follow in his footsteps.
One such player could be Jaylen Waddle, who SNY’s Connor Hughes reported had not moved from his first and only NFL team because of Grier’s former GM position, from which he was fired on Friday.

“He [Waddle] wasn’t getting moved as long as Chris Grier had a say. He believed, because of one-possession games, [the] Dolphins could turn it around,” Hughes reported.

On Oct. 18, NFL Network reported teams were interested in Waddle’s services, but Miami, with Grier still in charge, did not feel inclined to move him
With circumstances changing within the Dolphins organization, there could now be an opportunity to trade for Waddle.
If Waddle were to become available, the Giants could be a possible fit. Big Blue has lost two top offensive weapons just as Jaxson Dart was finding his groove under center.
The Giants lost Malik Nabers to a season-ending ACL tear at the end of September, and he’ll miss the rest of the season.
In another injury blow on Sunday, Cam Skattebo went down with a dislocated ankle and immediately underwent surgery following the Giants’ 38-20 loss to the Eagles. The rookie running back won’t return until at least training camp next year.
Both have left huge holes on offense, and even before the Skattebo injury, SNY reported the Giants could be “aggressive” in adding a receiver for Dart at the trade deadline.

Waddle shone in his first three seasons in the NFL, putting up over 1,000 yards in each year, including a career-high eight touchdowns in 2022 when the Dolphins made the playoffs.
As the Dolphins have struggled the past two years, Waddle’s production has declined. In 2024, the Alabama product tallied 744 yards for just two touchdowns across 15 games. This season, Waddle has 41 receptions for 586 yards and four touchdowns in nine games.

Under a different offensive system and alongside a different quarterback, Waddle could find a spark again. However, as The Post’s Paul Schwartz pointed out, the Giants are 2-6 and are not on the cusp of making the playoffs, so a receiver would help Dart’s development more than about making a postseason run.
