Glen Powell and Michael Waldron Want Taylor Swift To Guest Star In ‘Chad Powers’ Season 2: “My Dream Is To Have Taylor Write And Record The Chad Powers Love Theme”

Chad Powers may have just aired its Season 1 finale, but co-creators Glen Powell and Michael Waldron are already thinking about Season 2 guest stars. At the top of their wish list (or should we say, Wi$h Li$t) is the one, the only, Taylor Swift.

“I’m an O.G. Country music Taylor fan. I was blasting Taylor’s first album when I was in college, so I’m in,” Waldron told Decider when chatting about the Season 1 finale over Zoom. “My dream is to have Taylor write and record the the Chad Powers love theme. You know how a lot of movies used to have that? That’s my dream.”

Season 1 of Hulu’s new football comedy featured a stacked guest star roster, from big names in sports (including EP Eli Manning) to Powell’s own parents. So the pressure it on to raise the bar in Season 2, and with Swift’s ties to the football world, fiancé Travis Kelce, and the rest of the Kelce fam, getting the series on Swift’s radar does seem within the realm of possibility.

“We’ve gotta we gotta get it in front of them,” Waldron said. “Big, huge fan. Huge Swiftie over here, for sure.” And he’s not the only member of the Chad Powers team who loves T-Swift and her music!

During a recent conversation moderated by Variety‘s Angelique Jackson, Perry Mattfeld, who plays Coach Ricky Hudson, said, “I’m working my way to [Taylor]. We’ll make sure she sees the series and she’ll get it. I’m hoping because of Travis, she’ll watch and then we’ll connect and talk offense.”

“You already got me thinking about Season 2 cameos. T-Swift comin’ in hot,” Powell replied.

For those wondering if the co-stars are true Swifties like Waldron, they recently shouted out “Cruel Summer” as their go-to song to belt at home alone, inspired by Danny’s (Frankie A Rodriguez) big Mulan scene. So there you have it, folks! Chad Powers features some real deal Swifties.

Though the series has yet to officially be renewed by Hulu yet, Waldron confirmed that Season 2 planning is underway, and in addition to hopefully welcoming Taylor into her Chad Powers era, the team plans to explore a new dynamic among the core characters.

“If we’re lucky enough to get to make a Season 2, what’s clear is that whether she likes it or not, Ricky has been pulled into this conspiracy,” Waldron explained. “So it’s not just Russ and Danny pulling off Chad Powers. It’s going to be Russ, Danny, and Ricky. That’s a whole new, really fun dynamic that’s gonna be a blast.”

Read Decider’s full interview with Waldron to hear him break down the Season 1 finale’s biggest scenes, share takeaways from his directorial debut, and more. While we wait to hear more Chad Powers Season 2 updates, fingers crossed that Taylor and the Kelce fam find the football comedy soon. I mean, Glen Powell on the New Heights podcast would be prime Season 2 promo!

Chad Powers Season 1 is now streaming on Hulu.
