Nassau County Exec Bruce Blakeman visits injured cop — with greetings from Trump

Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman visited a police officer who was critically injured in a motorcycle crash on Long Island — and received a “get better” message from President Trump, sources said Tuesday.

Blakeman visited Nassau County Highway Patrol Officer Michael Hyland on Tuesday, as he recovered from a serious crash in early October that unfolded during a funeral procession and left the cop on life support and “broken head to toe,” the sources said.

Hyland, 53, and his wife — both Trump supporters — allegedly mentioned their support for the president to the county executive, who knows Trump personally and sent a photo of the three together to the commander-in-chief.

Trump apparently told Blakeman to tell the officer to “get better.”

To make Hyland’s day, with Blakeman describing the recovering officer as “very grateful and excited.”

“President Trump called me at 2 a.m. in Malaysia to see if I was still with Michael at the hospital,” Blakeman told The Post. 

“Unfortunately I had already left, but President Trump asked me to send his best wishes for a speedy recovery,” the executive said.

Officer Hyland was severely injured after leading a funeral procession on Oct. 6 in Lindenhurst when his Harley Davidson motorcycle collided with a 2020 Toyota Tundra.

Hyland was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, where he was placed on a ventilator and life support before being transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital while still on the machines. 

“He really is broken head to toe,” Dr. James Vosswinkel, Hyland’s doctor at Stony Brook, told reporters after the crash.

Although he has a long road to recovery ahead of him, Hyland is doing much better and is optimistic about his rehabilitation, the source said. 

Hyland couldn’t be reached for comment.
