The “Chicago Fire” star cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the divorce, listing the date of separation as “to be determined.”
While Mulroney asked for spousal support from the singer-songwriter, he requested joint legal and physical custody of their two minor children: daughters Sally, 15, and Mabel, 17.
Mulroney not only requested that Apollinaare pay him spousal support, but he also asked that the court terminate its ability to award her any financial support from him, the divorce docs revealed.
When it comes to the pair’s separate and community property, the “Shameless” actor asked that the court “confirm as separate property” certain “assets and debts” and “determine rights to community and quasi-community assets and debts.”
Finally, the “My Best Friend’s Wedding” star requested that he and his estranged wife pay their own attorney’s fees and costs.
While neither Mulroney nor Apollinaare has broken their silence on their surprising split, the “Strawberry” singer took to her Instagram Stories as the divorce news broke to promote her show in Los Angeles scheduled for tonight.
As for the “Anyone But You” actor, he still appeared to be wearing his wedding ring in an Instagram video posted on June 7.
The Post reached out to Mulroney’s rep for comment.
Mulroney and Apollinaare, an Italian musician and songwriter, tied the knot in December 2010. Their marriage came three years after the “Young Guns” star divorced his first wife, actress Catherine Keener, in 2007.
He and Apollinaare, whose real name is Tharita Cesaroni, welcomed their first daughter in April 2008, followed by their second in July 2009.
“I’ve lived in California now for 30 years and travelled around,” Mulroney told The Hollywood News in 2016 when discussing his parenting style. “I’m a pretty easy-going guy, so yes, not so straight and narrow as a parent.”
“I try to keep arts in front of them, whether it’s music or even just museum trips,” he continued at the time. “I don’t expect anything of them – it’s hard enough for everyone just to get their homework done at night.”
When asked if either child would follow in his or Apollinaare’s footsteps when it came to showbiz, Mulroney made it clear that he wanted them to focus on just being kids.
“Let’s just get them through grade school, and then see,” Mulroney added. “We’ve all certainly seen that being a child actor is unhealthy, so I wouldn’t do that.”
Mulroney and Apollinaare took their union to the small screen, appearing together on the singing game show “We Are Family” last year.
“It is great to come out and then turn to your own spouse and sing right into their face,” Mulroney told Entertainment Weekly after his and Apollinaare’s episode aired last year. “That was unusual. I have to say, really, really fun.”
